Bio: Darriyan Thomas is a Black Deaf woman who was born and raised in Vallejo, California. Enrolled in California School for the Deaf, Fremont, from age 12 to 18. She started playing volleyball when she was 13 years old. She graduated at Gallaudet University, with a major in International Studies B.A., December 2018. She won the gold medal at the PanAm tournament and the World Championships in Washington, D.C., July 2017. She also won a bronze medal at the  Deaflympics in Samsun, Turkey as a volleyball player. She is currently a Physical Education Teacher and Varsity Volleyball Assistant Coach at California School for the Deaf, Fremont.
